Don’t Dare Miss Guitar Player’s Guitar Superstar 2008 Competition!

Guitar Player, the world’s preeminent guitar magazine for guitarists who yearn to sound better and play better, is pleased to announce its fourth annual Guitar Superstar competition at San Francisco’s legendary Great American Music Hall, September 13, at 8 pm.

GPGS08

Across the globe, hundreds of string burners of all styles answered the call to post their best performances at sonicbids.com, where the staff of Guitar Player listened to the tracks and selected ten finalists to strut their stuff onstage in front of an esteemed panel of world-famous guitar stars: Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Elliot Easton (the Cars), George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob), and Brendon Small (co-creator of Adult’s Swim’s Metalocalypse animated series). Host of this year’s big event is Andy Summers — who is just coming off a fabulously successful world tour for the reunited Police.

The six judges will rate each contestant on technique, creativity, charisma, and overall vibe, and, at the end of the night, the 2008 Guitar Player’s Guitar Superstar will be crowned, along with two runner-ups. Prizes include a feature article in Guitar Player, and a bevy of wonderful prizes from event sponsors such as Mesa/Boogie, Moog Music, Epiphone, ZZYZX Snapjack Cables, Bugera Amps, Audio-Technica, Auralex, CAD Microphones, Carr Amps, Collings Guitars, Cruz Tools, Dunlop Manufacturing, Essential Sound Products, Fulltone, Keeley Electronics, King Amplification, Magix, Mono Cases, N-Tune Peterson, ProTone Pedals, Reeves Amplification, Reverend Guitars, Shreddies, Villex Electronics, and Westheimer/Cort.
